About 20
About the album
At the end of 2019, Bryan released his debut jazz/pop vocal album, 20, named as a tribute to his musical hero, Harry Connick Jr’s 1988 album by the same name. The album features Bryan’s original orchestrations/arrangements of 10 iconic songs from the past century for a 27-piece jazz orchestra.
Background on the album
As a singer and pianist in high school, it was a dream of Bryan’s to create an album that could be compared to the music of some of his greatest inspirations: Harry Connick Jr., Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, and many others.
Years later in the spring of 2019, Bryan applied for and received a research grant from Northwestern University to provide $3,500 to help fund the album. In May, he launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise an additional $15,000 from over 80 donors.
Throughout the summer of 2019, he orchestrated and arranged new charts for 10 songs that have been influential to his musical journey over the last 20 years of his life.
In the fall of 2019, Bryan worked closely with conductor, Sarah Kim, to rehearse and record the album with a 27-piece jazz orchestra. After just 2 rehearsals, they recorded the album live at Chicago Recording Company from September 28-29th.
The album is now available on all streaming platforms worldwide.
